Weihnachten spielte bei Batman als Motiv bereits früh eine große Rolle. Im Golden Age hab es einige Comics, die das Fest zum Anlass nahmen. Die Tradition schlief in den 50ern und 60ern weitgehend ein. Erst in den 70ern begann DC erneut, Weihnachten als Thema wieder zu entdecken. Seit den 80ern erscheinen immer wieder Holiday-Specials in der Form von Anthologien mit Kurzgeschichten, die auch andere Superhelden auftreten lassen.
